Compound number 12: The Sacrifice / The Victim
Chaldean compound · reduces to 3 · Warning
Cheiro's reading of 12
Cheiro associates 12 with worry and mental strain. In his reading it points to someone being made to pay for the schemes of other people.
How a name reaches 12
In the Chaldean system every letter of the name is added into one total. When that total is 12, Cheiro reads 12 first and then the single digit it reduces to: 1+2 = 3. Read number 3 for the single-digit meaning.
Cheiro used compound numbers mainly to judge names and dates. These readings describe his tradition's view; they are not predictions.
Is 12 a lucky number?
Cheiro reads 12 as a warning number. That is his tradition's view of a name or date total, not a prediction, and a single number never decides anything on its own.
Names that add up to 12
Some common first names whose letters add to 12 in the Chaldean system: Aditya, Akash, Anita, Anjali, Sanjay, Sarita, Kamala, Anna. For example, Aditya: 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 12. A full name adds the first name, any middle names and the surname together.
12 in dates
For dates from 1940 to 2019, adding every digit gives totals from 4 (1 January 2000) to 48 (29 September 1999). Of all dates from 1940 to 2019, 1.3% add up to exactly 12. That whole-date total reduces to the Bhagyank, here 3.
As a day of the month, the 12th gives Mulank 3. Born on the 12th.
Other compounds that reduce to 3
21, 30, 39, 48. Each has its own reading, though they share the single digit 3.
What the single digit 3 adds
Three is tied to self-expression in words, art and company. It is read as warm and lively; the shadow side is scattering energy across too many things. In Cheiro's method the compound gives the colour and the single digit gives the underlying nature; both are read together.
How one letter changes 12
Adding a letter raises a Chaldean total by that letter's value, from 1 to 8 (no letter is worth 9). This is why a doubled letter or an extra vowel can move a name to a different compound:
