How to use the name numerology chart

  1. Write the full name exactly as it is spelled, usually the name at birth.
  2. Look up each letter in one column only: Chaldean or Pythagorean. Don't mix them.
  3. Chaldean: add every letter into one total; Cheiro reads that compound number before reducing it. Pythagorean: add and reduce each name on its own, then add the results.
  4. Add the digits of the total until one digit is left. Pythagorean numerology stops at 11, 22 and 33.

Worked example: Maya Rao

Chaldean: M=4 + A=1 + Y=1 + A=1 + R=2 + A=1 + O=7 = 17; 1 + 7 = 8. The name number is 8, from compound 17.

Pythagorean: MAYA: 4 + 1 + 7 + 1 = 13 → 4; RAO: 9 + 1 + 6 = 16 → 7. Then 4 + 7 = 11. Expression 11.

The two systems give different numbers because the letters carry different values: in the Chaldean table no letter is worth 9, and Y, R and O differ. The calculator does this for any name and shows the same working, the Cheiro numerology page explains the Chaldean method in full, and Pythagorean numerology the Western one.
