Challenge number 1

Standing on your own feet without pushing others aside.

Challenge 1

Standing on your own feet without pushing others aside.

It relates to the qualities of 1: independence, initiative, self-reliance. The challenge is to develop them without overdoing them.

How it shows up

It often shows up as either pushing too hard or not standing up for yourself. Working with it: practise stating your position calmly.

The 1 challenge sits between being overlooked and being overbearing. Early in life it can show as letting others decide; later, as overcorrecting by insisting on your own way. The middle path is quiet confidence: knowing what you want and saying so once, clearly, without needing to win every point. Roles that require you to make the final call are good practice.

How a challenge 1 arises

Challenges subtract parts of the birth date, each reduced to a single digit (masters too): month and day, day and year, the first two challenges, then month and year. A difference of 1 comes from pairs such as 2 and 1, 3 and 2, 4 and 3, 5 and 4, 6 and 5, 7 and 6.

How common it is

Of all dates from 1940 to 2019, 20.3% have 1 as the first challenge, and 25.8% as the third, main challenge, which Decoz says lasts throughout life.
